Saturday, my Auntie and Uncle were able to get a couple of extra tickets to the Ringo Starr and the All-Starr Band at Mandalay Bay - On the Beach. It was interesting. I figured it would be my only chance to see at least one of the Fab Four...even if it was Ringo. hee hee. j/k I heart Ringo too!
This was a last minute thing, so I was not prepared. The only camera I had on me at the time was my Sidekick, and it doesn't take the best photos from a distance. Arrgh.
When we arrived at the concert venue, we were thinking it was inside. We were suprised to see that it was actually On the Beach. They had set up a stage next to the wave pool and everyone (except us) had brought towels to sit on in the sand. It was nice, except for the cigarette smell (along with some doobie smells too). Once people started smoking I realized that there were random cigarette buds laying around. It was like sitting in a huge ash tray. And me with no towel to sit on, and in jeans and sneakers, when everyone else was wearing beach wear. It was still in the upper 90's when we were watching the concert (this was at 9 PM!)
If you look really closely you can see Ringo there in the middle playing his drums. I am sooo upset that I didn't have my camera with me! arrgh! Anywho in the middle slighting elevated is Ringo playing his drums. On the right (our right) is Shiela E... heehee, pronounced "Sheiler E" by Ringo. Somewhere on the left (our left) is Richard Marx. Those two where the only two in the All Starr Band that I know of. The others were Rod Argent, Billy Squier, Edgar Winter, and Hammish Stuart. Ringo sang several songs that he either co-wrote with a another Beatle, or was lead vocal on. He also sang the song he wrote for George. Each member of the All-Starr Band performed 1 song they made popular on their own (or with a previous group). The songs they played were all familar, I just didn't know who sang them, ya know?
The last picture I took was outside of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. We were waiting for our bus to take us back to Harrah's. While we were waiting we were told that the VIP exit was along the same side we were waiting on. My Auntie and Uncle over the check out who comes out with a couple of other people who attended the concert. While I was taking this picture, a small group of people walked out of the VIP exit and into a small black bus with a security guy following them. I thought..hmm that was kinda weird, I wonder who they are. Yeah it was Ringo. I missed it. I was so fixated on the fact that some security guy was following the group of people that I didn't even look at the the actual group of people!
In case you were wondering, the song lyrics shown in the title and in the first line of this post is from the song "Honey Don't". Imagine someone singing that to you...How Rude!
