Your Testimony

Every testimony I have ever heard up until this point have been quite dramatic, "I was lost...I was a drug addict...I was in an abusive relationship...I was diagnosed with an incurable disease..etc., etc." All of which are amazing to see how their walk with God has changed their lives.

Today I attended a church service that had a guest speaker by the name of Greg Laurie. He spoke about the importance of sharing the Gospel...something that I have heard several times before, the who, the how, the when. The part that really caught my attention, though, was when he was talking about sharing your testimony. My testimony is quite boring in comparison to the ones that I have heard in the past. Greg Laurie said that your testimony doesn't have to be some huge dramatic soap opera type thing detailing the trials you have endured in your lifetime. Your testimony should not focus on what you gave up for Him, but what He gave up for you and me and everyone.

You don't know what you got till its gone

It's a shame that things, people, or even circumstances do not always get the attention they need or deserve until its gone. Everyone is guilty of it, and everyone has been a neglecter or a neglected at some point of their lives. I not just talking about big things, like people and friends who move in and out of your life, ex-boyfriends, or my old kick-boxing body. There are even those moments of regret where you know you should have done or said something but never did...Like my high school crush. Or those moments at USC, when I couldn't wait for school to be over. Why? Why did I want it to be over?

Now that I am working, I want to go back to those days at USC. I want to go back to those days when I would sleep until 11 so that I Love Lucy and Port Charles would be the first things I watch before starting my day...I can take a couple of hours to get ready, and wear flip flops all day. Instead I wake up at 6 (okay, lie its more like 7) and the first thing I watch is Good Day LA for the weather (and you know Jillian isn't always right) and I wear these ugly mary jane shoes everyday because I really don't care what goes on my feet these days. I want to go back to when my only financial worry was if I had enough money in my discretionary account, and I have the comfort in knowing that I will not have to worry about paying back my loans until after graduation. Now-a-days, I have to shell out a hunk of my paycheck to pay for my edu-muh-cation and I have to keep paying every month until 2023...I WILL BE 43! I like knowing that from mid-May to mid-August, and all the major holidays I have a set vacation. Now I have earn my vacation time and ask my boss-lady for time off and schedule them around my project deadlines, and other people's availability.

Perception is a big thing to. Sometimes ignorance is bliss, but most of the time it's just stupid. You can live your life feeling like everything is okay and then one day someone says or does something that changes how you see people, and how people see you, and your perception changes...Most of the time its for the better. Actually, its always for the better, even when it hurts like crazy its still better than being ignorant.

Its all part of growing up, learning, and letting go...I guess.

What's up with the heat?

On Monday we went to Red Rock Casino. It's nice. We played keno...or what I like to call "the cheap lazy person's gambling"...hee hee.... I picked 10 numbers, sat in one of their over stuffed chairs, ordered a coke, and "played" 12 games. Yesterday we arrived back from Las Vegas and it has been suprisingly hot here in the OC. I think I much prefer the LV (because at least there is air conditioning there).

Work seemed to fly by today. I am so happy that I had Monday and Tuesday off. yay! Now its almost the weekend again.

I sometimes love you on a Saturday Night

"Sunday morning you don't look right."

Saturday, my Auntie and Uncle were able to get a couple of extra tickets to the Ringo Starr and the All-Starr Band at Mandalay Bay - On the Beach. It was interesting. I figured it would be my only chance to see at least one of the Fab Four...even if it was Ringo. hee hee. j/k I heart Ringo too!

This was a last minute thing, so I was not prepared. The only camera I had on me at the time was my Sidekick, and it doesn't take the best photos from a distance. Arrgh.

When we arrived at the concert venue, we were thinking it was inside. We were suprised to see that it was actually On the Beach. They had set up a stage next to the wave pool and everyone (except us) had brought towels to sit on in the sand. It was nice, except for the cigarette smell (along with some doobie smells too). Once people started smoking I realized that there were random cigarette buds laying around. It was like sitting in a huge ash tray. And me with no towel to sit on, and in jeans and sneakers, when everyone else was wearing beach wear. It was still in the upper 90's when we were watching the concert (this was at 9 PM!)

If you look really closely you can see Ringo there in the middle playing his drums. I am sooo upset that I didn't have my camera with me! arrgh! Anywho in the middle slighting elevated is Ringo playing his drums. On the right (our right) is Shiela E... heehee, pronounced "Sheiler E" by Ringo. Somewhere on the left (our left) is Richard Marx. Those two where the only two in the All Starr Band that I know of. The others were Rod Argent, Billy Squier, Edgar Winter, and Hammish Stuart. Ringo sang several songs that he either co-wrote with a another Beatle, or was lead vocal on. He also sang the song he wrote for George. Each member of the All-Starr Band performed 1 song they made popular on their own (or with a previous group). The songs they played were all familar, I just didn't know who sang them, ya know?

The last picture I took was outside of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. We were waiting for our bus to take us back to Harrah's. While we were waiting we were told that the VIP exit was along the same side we were waiting on. My Auntie and Uncle over the check out who comes out with a couple of other people who attended the concert. While I was taking this picture, a small group of people walked out of the VIP exit and into a small black bus with a security guy following them. I thought..hmm that was kinda weird, I wonder who they are. Yeah it was Ringo. I missed it. I was so fixated on the fact that some security guy was following the group of people that I didn't even look at the the actual group of people!

In case you were wondering, the song lyrics shown in the title and in the first line of this post is from the song "Honey Don't". Imagine someone singing that to you...How Rude!
