The 31 List

Yesterday was the 31st Birthday. I was uneventful to say the least...nothing out much out of the ordinary happened yesterday...in fact there were people who didn't even change out of the pajamas the whole day (which is a sure sign that they were not taking me out on my birthday). No worries...my super wonderful boyfriend is taking me out this weekend to celebrate. He makes me so happy :)

Last year I put together a list of 30 things I wanted to do before my 31st Birthday. Um.. yeah. I did horribly. Not only did I not do most of the things on the list, the things that I actually managed to do went undocumented. As much as I love structure and lists, the birthday list just didn't work out for me this past year. This year I decided to change it up a bit and give myself a little bit more freedom. Instead of a specific "to do" type list, I will instead have categories and hopefully by the time I turn 32 (gulp), I will have completed 31 new things.

The 31 List

#1 Follow this mantra: Let go. Be free. Step OUTSIDE the bubble. and for pete's sake stop with the poopy face and smile!

Complete 5 creative projects...I haven't been keeping up with my crafting. It's quite sad. I have all these supplies an very little of them have been used. I want to get creative and get messy.

Recycle/Reuse/Repurpose 5 things...I have a lot of junk. Stuff I don't really need, or things that could be of better use as something else.

Cook 5 dishes from scratch...I am a semi-homemade cook. I can make the best soup using premade stuff from cans and bags. Instead of preparing food, I want to actually COOK food more.

Eat at 5 new restaurants...I live in Southern California where you can fine cuisine from all over the world. Time to step outside of my norms and try some new food at new restaurants.

Do 5 things I've never done before...I really haven't experienced much in my 31 years. Its kind of sad. This should be easy provided that I don't chicken out. Somehow I don't think the bf will let me. Which is good for me. :)

Visit 5 places I've never visited before...I am quite comfortable in my little 10 mile radius bubble. I need to get out more and explore outside of that bubble. Seriously.

And there are my 31 things. I hope I'm better at keeping up with it than the 30 list. :) Happy Birthday. Its a new year!!!

April Recap

Oh my. I have been a bad blogger. Busy girl over here. Here is April's recap.

  • After a crazy month of March, I relaxed with the crazy overtime.
  • After two months of texting and talking on the phone, I finally met him in the beginning of April and have seen him every weekend (and a couple of random weekdays) since.
  • Baby Maya was baptized.
  • Had two random Vacation days (to make up for the lack of time off and the overworked month of March)
  • We celebrated Brother Bear's 22nd Birthday at Flemmings in Newport Beach.
  • I finally got an oil change for my car.
  • I saw the following movies: The Hereafter, Just Go With It, Never Say Never, and Fast & Furious. Random mix, I know. hehe.
  • I did not attend the USC Spring Game this year. Instead I opted to celebrate someone's birthday.
  • I drove to Encinitas for the longest council meeting I have ever experienced in my short career.
Bring on May. Its time to find me some new digs.

Currents...

In an effort to temporarily avoid having to start working on this lovely Saturday, I decided to do a quick currents post.

Reading... Old blog posts. Particularly this one: Corina Returns! It helps to see where I am and where I was...and that I need to write more.
Eating... A cookie
Wearing... Purple V-neck top, jeans, and my glasses because I'm too lazy to put the contacts in
Feeling... Content
Wanting... More time. I still need more time!!!
Needing... A dose of motivation to finish this "last" Audit Report for work
Thinking... Head Lice and Ear Infections

(this is inspired by Tina's Currents lists)

Alright. Time to start work. Wish me luck. :)

Adventures of Rusty and Breezy: Telling Time

It's now Thursday morning. Breezy and Rusty are discussing king crab legs. Rusty is having an off spelling day and randomly decides that it would be fun to share a series of vulgar emoticons...

Rusty: haha!
Breezy: O_O
Breezy: really? its not even 10 am yet...
Rusty: pigs cant tell time
Breezy: OMG.

Adventures of Rusty and Breezy: Eyes Glazed Over

Breezy: wow. now i know how you feel when i ramble all over the place. my apologies
Breezy: hehe
Rusty: oic hahaha
Breezy: yeah. its funny..and exhausting!
Rusty: did you just respond with boobs?
Breezy: NO. thats your thing
Breezy: i see how it is...your eyes just glaze over and you think of boobs.
Rusty: how else do you think i get through it
Breezy: =/
Breezy: so if it were a face to face convo, that would be the part where you drift off and start staring at them right?
Rusty: maybe if they were hanging out

Go. See. Do.

Payday was Friday. I looked at my pay stub and saw that I have 172 hours of vacation time racked up! ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-TWO! It's racking up a lot faster now that I'm an associate, and I've been working for 8 years. I think I get an additional week a year when I hit 10 years of service.

So with all this time on my hands, I want to take a vacation..it doesn't have to be a long one..it can be a bunch of small ones. I definitely have enough time to take several small trips and still take a couple of weeks off in the fall and go to the Philippines. :)

Where should I go? What should I do? Who should I go with? Who wants to travel with me!? Lets go on a cruise! Where ever I go, I'm taking TONS of pictures and I'm bringing crafting supplies and making a mini-book of the trip. Get your smile on people!

Currently...

Its a cold and windy day here in Southern California. I'm supposed to be working..doing a little overtime..and get stuff done. So far I'm not being so productive. I thought I'd stop by a for a bit and share a bit of Sunday Randoms.

Watching... Sex & the City Movie
Drinking... Homemade Chai Latte
Wearing... My super huge USC sweatshirt with my name and PE application # printed on the back, with some skinny jeans and argyle knee socks.
Feeling... Stressed. Boo to working on weekends. Yay to overtime pay.
Wanting... More time. I need more time!!!
Needing... A hug. I big bear man hug. The kind that makes me melt and completely erases all stresses and worries.
Thinking... About next month. I can't wait. :)

Computer Fail

Every morning I would wake my mac up and play a lil itunes while I get ready for the day. Last Friday however, Mr. Mac would not wake up. Sometime during the night he shut down. I turned him on and went about my morning while waiting for the start up to complete. I decided to let it run and headed to work. When I came home, Mr. Mac was still on the grey screen with the apple and the lil spinning wheel. Blah.

After force quitting and restarting multiple times, I pulled out my old ass laptop and started trouble shooting. Most of Saturday I went down the list of things to do and each time I got the grey screen. By the end of that evening I decided to make an appointment at the Genius Bar.

On Sunday I dragged my computer carrying brother to the Apple Store to get my computer looked at by a certified apple geek. Me being a dork had written down exactly what I had done. The genius looked at my list and said I did everything he would have done and said that it looks like I need a new hard drive. Also, he lectured me on not backing my stuff up. (I know. I'm bad. Don't worry. I've learned my lesson.) Luckily, he said my data is probably still on the HD, its just not accessible.

I left the store with a referral to a dude who can retrieve my data and install a new hard drive. Its going to cost me, but at least my pictures, music, files, etc are not completely lost...I hope.

I am so getting a bigger and better hard drive, and an external hard drive, and I'm going to back up my stuff everyday. Every. Single. Freakin. Day. Everyday.

And so it has happened.

This morning...sometime before 8:30 am. I am sitting in my office getting ready to start the work day. Outlook is open and loading my emails. I open my google reader and sign onto meebo. Windows explorer is open and I'm navigating through the ridiculous amount of folders to find the spreadsheets I need when my co-worker enters my office...

Her: *grinning* Why are you smirking?
Me: *high pitched* Me?? (inside my head I'm cringing, I don't know why I do that...clearly I am the only one in MY office so of course she would be talking to ME)
Her: yeah..why are you smiling back there? did you read something funny?
Me: no. I'm just looking at spreadsheets...and...
Her: uh-huh...do you have someone???? *laughs*
Me: no....what?...me? (there I go again..what's wrong with me?)
Her: ...so why are you smiling?
Me: what?..I..I..didn't know I was smiling....

And so it has happened. I've become one of those people who is just smiles for no reason. I've had my moments before, but lately it seems to be a constant. I've become one of those...genuinely happy for no reason people. I kind of like this happy person. I hope he likes this happy person too. <3

Its REE!!

Yesterday, I took a half day off from work and Xtine and I ventured down to The Grove to attend The Pioneer Woman's book signing of "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels". We arrived at the Barnes and Noble shortly after 3 and after dealing with an irritated customer service dude at the counter, we received our "F" bands for the event.

We walked around a bit and decided to sit outside to just relax and take it all in. We people watched. I particularly watched this person directly behind Xtine.

Uh. Yeah. Abercombie model at the store entrance. Hellooo. (yes, this is a picture of the picture I took with Xtine's camera...while pretending to take her picture but really zooming into the model man...what? I know. so??)

We headed back to B&N and patiently waited for them to call our letter so we could patiently wait in line. Finally we made it to the front and there she is!!! She is amazingly sweet and talked to everyone as she signed. Xtine and I talked to her about USC. Goooo TROJANS! I heart her. :)

After the book signing, Xtine and I enjoyed a nice dinner on the patio of Cheesecake Factory. YUM-O. All in all, it was a great way to start off the week. If only every Monday could be like that...

Good things happen when hearts abound.

When I was in high school and early into college, I had a thing for stars. I was crazy about anything shaped like a star, or had a star printed on it. I even had those glow in the dark stars that you buy at Spencers and put up on your ceiling (only my parents house has pop-corn ceilings so they just covered my closet door...anywho.) I loved stars. Eventually I grew out of that.

Now its all about the hearts. Favorites. Motivation. Self acceptance. Confidence. Excitement. Love. Happiness. All that positive energy is good for you. Having a positive attitude and looking towards the future with bright eyes leaves you open for many things, opportunities, and people. It makes things happen. It makes you make things happen. It pushes you to just do it!

Oh yes my friends, good things happen when hearts abound.

January Goals

Here are my January Goals.
  • Do the 30-day Shred.
  • Drink eight 8oz glasses of water a day.
  • Have all my stuff moved into my new room or my storage unit.
  • Organize my craft area/supplies.
  • Put away Christmas and finish my December Daily.
I think this list is totally doable, especially since I have this whole week off from work. Yep. One. Whole. Week. So you might find me here quite a bit. :)

Hello Twenty Eleven!!

New Year. New Month. New Outlook. 2010 was full of ups, downs, and many changes. Overall 2010 was a fantastic year, and 2011 will be even better. This time last year I was a little crazy with the lists, the goals, the Project 365, and the words to focus on. While all those things are good, sometime around March I started losing focus and all those things were pushed aside. Throughout the year I continued to make lists and set goals, but like everything else, I eventually lost momentum. There were many projects started, but never finished. Goals were set, but never accomplished. Dreams were discussed, but never executed.

Twenty Eleven is going to be the year of DOING. I want to stop talking about it, and start doing it. So in order to *simplify* this whole resolution/list/goal-making thing, I am going to focus on 4 main resolutions this year.

#1 Move - I've got the diet thing pretty much down. The moving is where I'm struggling. For this year, I resolve to exercise 365 hours this year. Whether its walking, work-out videos, or pilates, I want to get moving this year. *I'm considering changing this to walk 2,000,000 steps this year. I just bought myself a pedometer to motivate me to move more. Once I figure out what is average for me, I will up that by 2,000 steps and multiply that by 365 and that will be my goal. woohoo!*

#2 Me Time - I work way too much. WAY TOO MUCH. By the time August rolls around, I'm completely burned out.  At that point I'm not only am I over working, I'm over doing any fun things outside of work. This year I resolve to take more me time. It does not have to be a long vacation somewhere, but I would benefit a great deal from taking a day or two off every now and then. This day would just be for me.

#3 Create - I have a craft supply habit. I can't seem to stop buying things and not using them. I need to stop hoarding things and start using them! My third resolution is to create more and use my craft supplies. Not only is creating fun, but its also very therapeutic for me. Making time to craft is going to be a priority for me this year.

#4 De-clutter - This is de-cluttering on multiple levels. With my upcoming move, I'm realizing that I have a lot of stuff that I need to purge. With my weight loss, I'm realizing that I have a lot clothes and fat/image issues that I need to let go of. With my current relationship status, I'm realizing there are fears that I need to get over. De-cluttering is a must this year.

Those are my basic resolutions this year. Of course I will continue with the mini monthly goals, because I can't resist making lists. hehe. The mini-goals will be geared towards my resolutions. So I will be back with my January goals soon. :)

Happy New Year!!
